Lesson Learned

Look at all the vegetables I picked in one day! I am so amazed that we have been able to grow all of these veggies. See how the tomatoes to the left of picture are beginning to ripen. Wish you all lived close by, I would share. I had to pick the tomatoes before the squirrels and birds decided to make a meal of them.

I had to scold Hedwig the other day...not a pretty site. I was watering the garden and had layed the water hose down in the first row while I harvested some of the veggies and who do I see... just one row away....Mr. Birdie, taking his morning bath, flapping his little wings and dunking his little feathered head in the water as to say...Look at me, your Hedwig does not scare me nor do you! Well, I walked myself over to that first row and HE STILL DID NOT MOVE! Not only was he thumbing his little beak at Hedwig, but he was thumbing his little beak at me...YES, AT ME! Well, this did not set well with me nor with Hedwig, as I started to move even closer, I guess he decided he was not as brave as he thought. He flew away, hopefully never to return. I hope Hedwig learned his lesson not to sleep on the job.

DH decided he wanted to grill chicken, (they still don't trust me on grilling since the Easter incident).

I sliced one yellow and one green squash and brushed both sides with olive oil, salt and peppered it and put them on the grill.

See how good it looks, as Rachel Ray would say Yum oh!

Beautiful veggies! Texas Spring/Summer must have come earlier than here in East Tennessee. We have probably another month before we can do any harvesting.

Great looking produce! We had grilled chicken over the weekend, too! I've harvested lots of onions, altho not very big ones, but they were falling over and going to seed on the tops. I'm beginning to get serranos and bells, squash before too much longer. It'll be a little longer on the tomatoes. My peas didn't do well, neither did daddy's. We think we got some bad seed. Cuz dad's produce always does good. Doesn't it feel good to grow things and eat your own stuff! Vickie

Hey Irma, I bet your in the garden. This squash and zuchinni look so good, mine isn't ready yet. But I am going to the fruit stand today, think I'll have to get some to fix for supper tonight. I hope your received the garland, so sorry it was late but it seems like so much was going on during that time.

Hope you have a great day in the garden, RoseMarie

What wonderful produce!!! I wish I could grow things I could eat. I'm so hopeless in the garden, the only thing I can grow is lemons, lol

Oh, those veggies look gorgeous! LOL, not a word I usually associate with veggies, but your assortment does look divine! What else is needed, when you have grown such wonderful food?! Had to LOL when you said, "they still don't trust you" grilling since the Easter incident. Will be eager to catch up on that one. ;-) Great that your DH is grillmaster, as he sure has the knack! Fun blog, Irma. Great to meet you, and so glad you came over to my give away this week. Have a super day. :-)

I can't believe your early harvest! We just got our tomato plants in the ground three weeks ago so we are way behind. Everything was beautiful - Rachel Ray would be jealous!

Earlier on my blog you asked where we got our rain barrel. A man at my church installed ours but I will ask him who his supplier is. We have been very happy to have a rain barrel.

It all looks so Yum Oh! I wish I could have a garden with veggies. Oh well, maybe at the next place.

Maybe Hedwig needs some caffeine to keep himself awake and on the job.

Hugs!
